CIA should serve members, not favorites

April 14, 2011

As a CIA member, I’m upset to have the council single out contracts to an individual for their own profit. Shame on you. In this day in age, prices are ridiculous for everything and you steal funds that help your own people.

I was approved for CIA weatherization in April last year. In June I was told that work would be done in July. In July we were told in two weeks they were coming up to start; so we put our stuff out on pallets under tarps to keep dry. Long story short, we were promised two weeks until the snow started. I was told maybe December, but for sure January. It never happened despite several attempts to communicate with Hill, and other council members, with no response. Now we have items destroyed, things that are not replaceable and mildewed clothes to burn. I got allergies from the mildew, which became asthma. That put a lot of stress on our family. I can’t stop taking allergy medications or my throat will close up and hives break out.

What happened, CIA? And Mr. Berry said things have improved at CIA? How so? No quarterly newsletters for a long time and the weatherization program is closed until they figure out what happened to the funds. What programs have improved? What are the programs that CIA offers? I think CIA forgot what they are there for; it’s all the members, not just their favorite ones.
