Spring is here and the skating season is officially over. Even with unpredictable weather, there was a great turnout with more skaters than ever.

Other good news this season included Haines Hockey organizing themselves with membership, jerseys, sweatshirts, and T-shirts. A gear exchange was held. New boards set up by volunteers created a larger rink. Haines Packing loaned a panel van, making a warm space to change in and out of skates. A grant from the Chilkat Valley Community Foundation funded two arena lights which really helped brighten the rink. Volunteers dedicated many hours laying ice and clearing the rink. Southeast Alaska State Fair continues to be a great partner in the effort to make Raven Arena a place for the community to enjoy winter.

Thank you to those who made it happen and were a part of the fun!

On Saturday, March 28, Haines Hockey is taking down the boards. If you want to help, come on over at 10 a.m.
