A 2013 Chevy Camaro was totaled in a crash on Small Tracts Road Aug. 2. The crash occurred at 7:30 a.m. as driver Eric Klinger approached a curve driving southbound past the Haines Friends of Recycling center. “The road turned and he didn’t,” said police chief Simon Ford. The car went off an embankment and into a tree. Klinger and a passenger suffered only minor injuries. The two were wearing seat belts and the car’s airbags deployed. Klinger had apparently been up late the previous night and had fallen asleep, Ford said. There was no indication alcohol was involved, he said. No charges were filed.
