Peace group boosts school effort

The Haines High School Student Council would like to thank the Haines People for Peace and the student body

for their continued support of the Kilimanjaro Orphanage fund. This year we were able to send $750, $500 of which

came through a grant from the Haines People for Peace. (These numbers don’t include what the elementary raised

earlier this year). The continued relationship between the school and the orphanage is something that has taught

the students just how far a dollar can go in Africa. Stay tuned for continued fundraising next year as we hope to

eventually sponsor a student to come to Haines for an exchange. Thank you again to the Haines People for Peace

for helping us initiate this relationship several years ago.

Chris Turner, Vice-President
