Former NBA player to address grads

Mark McNamara, an assistant coach for the Haines High School boys’ basketball team who played eight seasons in the NBA, has been named this year’s commencement speaker.

Class president Brook Cinocco said the seniors have been very active in sports, so McNamara is a good fit.

She said McNamara also helped coach the volleyball players to improve their spiking.

McNamara was a first-round draft pick of the Philadelphia 76ers in 1982 out of the University of California and was listed at 6’11’’. He competed for several teams. Graduation is May 22.
