Friends make Hospice efforts succeed
Gratitude for the generosity of our community is the overwhelming feeling for the board and staff of Hospice of Haines this spring. The rummage sale was a whopping success supported by the time and donations of scores of names. Once again, our special thank you to Acme Transfer for taking the unwanted items.
In addition, we wish to acknowledge other recent donors: $500 from Ed and Yuko Hays from the proceeds from their winter sushi-making class; $500 from the hard-working Emblem club; certificates of travel on Wings for the Cancer Travel Fund from Diana Lapham; and the donation of the Thunderbird Motel furnishings from Haines Assisted Living.
Lastly, on Saturday, six kind-hearted individuals completed the Hospice of Haines 18th annual volunteer training. A warm thank you to the presenters for volunteering your time and thoughtful expertise: Liz Marantz Falvey, Shannon McPhetres, Nancy Schnabel, Dick and Carol Flegel, Jacque Horn, Al Badgley, Becky Malone, Beverly McLaughlin, Deb Kemp and Vince Hansen. Thank you, REACH and Haines Assisted Living, for offering the perfect locations for the training.
On behalf of the board, staff, and those who receive our care, thank you.
Beth MacCready, Program Director
