Local Democrats to caucus on April 14
The local Democratic Party caucus will be held April 14, 10 a.m. to noon at the Senior Center.
The event is open to registered Democrats and voter registration will be available on site.
Deborah Vogt, party chair for House District 5, said the caucus is mostly to do party business but also will include a “fan out” at which party members can support incumbent president Barack Obama or remain uncommitted.
The “fan out” will provide a percent of the breakdown of delegates. Those in attendance also will nominate delegates to the statewide convention in May. Twelve delegates are assigned to the House district.
Vogt said the caucus is also the opportunity for party members to shape the state party platform. “This is a chance to propose changes to the party platform or to propose resolutions to the statewide party.”
The caucus will be teleconferenced to other caucus sites in the district, Vogt said.
