Monday, March 12

A message was relayed to a relative regarding a family death.

A complaint was made about a snowplow damaging a trailer downtown. Police said when the snow melts, damages will be determined and the complaint will be followed up.

Saturday, March 10

An officer assisted a motorist at Third Avenue who slid off the road.

Dispatch received a radio report of a vehicle off the road at 8 Mile Haines Highway and passed the information on to state troopers. There were no injuries.

An officer investigated a trailer parked on Major Road. The owner said the trailer was parked there temporarily while they dug out their truck.

A caller reported an injured moose near Letnikof. An officer dispatched the moose and the meat was given to a charity.

Public works requested police assistance with a car obstructing snow removal on Beach Road. The vehicle was moved before police arrived.

Callers reported poor driving conditions on Beach Road and Deishu Drive.

Friday, March 9

A caller reported a vehicle on Young Road private property without permission. The vehicle later was moved off the property.

Officers responded to a request for traffic assistance on Beach Road due to icy conditions.

A caller requested a police escort to bring an intoxicated man to an appointment at the Haines clinic. An officer responded. The man became aggressive with doctors and was taken into protective custody.

A service station reported a truck left without paying for gasoline.

Thursday, March 8

A caller reported a person blowing snow into a public roadway at Fort Seward. An officer determined it wasn’t creating a public safety risk.

A caller reported an intoxicated person had fallen into a roadway downtown. An officer took the person to the clinic.

An anonymous caller told police of a motorist they said had repeatedly driven drunk. A similar call was made March 6.

An officer requested sand on Third Avenue at Major Road. Traffic was rerouted until the road could be plowed and sanded.

A person reported a snowball was thrown through a window at a downtown business. An officer responded and investigated.

Wednesday, March 7

A business reported an abandoned vehicle in a downtown parking lot.

Tuesday, March 6

State troopers responded to a 26 Mile residence due to a disturbance involving a minor who was intoxicated. A minor was charged with consuming alcohol.

A business reported a man with mental problems would not leave its office. The man was taken into protective custody.

A caller reported trash being burned at Deishu Drive. Police determined the residence had a controlled burn permit and had followed the procedure of calling it in.

Alaska Power and Telephone was notified after a caller reported a streetlight was hanging and flickering near an Allen Road business.

There were 16 medical calls and three calls about dogs.
