The Haines Arts Council will host its annual, winter Northern Light Showcase 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13 at the Chilkat Center.
Council president Tom Heywood said the performance of local talent is a favorite. "It’s always really fun. It’s one of the highlights of our season. It’s great for seeing what our local artists are up to and the performers appreciate having something to work toward."
Local performers in the line-up include cabaret singer Julie Cozzi, storyteller Mark Zeiger, vocalist Julie Scott, pianist Debra Schnabel, singer-songwriter Burl Sheldon, the Jilkaat Kwaan Heritage Dancers, and singer-songwriter Christy Tengs-Fowler.
Tengs-Fowler has produced an album of songs based on advice from "The Dr. Phil Show," a TV program where psychologist Dr. Phillip McGraw tackles guests’ problems. Heywood said Tengs has promised to play some numbers from her album, titled "The Dr. Phil Project."
The local band, "The Hi-DE-HOs" will perform, as will a new band of local players called Not What You’d Expect.
The show will include an intermission and refreshments. Tickets are $5.
