Miles was great ambassador for town
The first time I came to Haines almost 19 years ago, Dennis Miles was one of the nicest and funniest people I met. He was a great ambassador for small town friendliness and made me realize what most of us are missing in suburban living: that ability to connect and interact with your fellow neighbors, even those with which we have little in common. Over the years I had the opportunity to share in many great experiences with Dennis including jogging, motorcycle trips and backpacking in the Yukon. What I liked about Dennis was his sense of humor and his willingness to befriend almost anyone. He also had the ability to undertake new and exciting challenges in both his personal and business lives. He also had that practical, self reliant, "can-do attitude" that allowed him to solve almost any problem he faced. He could fix just about anything or figure out the best way to show someone else how to do it. Dennis was also very generous with his time and talents. He once surprised me by reupholstering my motorcycle seat which was badly in need of repair. I will greatly miss Dennis and for me coming to Haines again won’t be quite the same.
