Judith Johnson, 1965-2009
A memorial service for lifelong resident Judith Ann
Johnson will be held 3 p.m. Monday at the Haines ANB Hall.
Johnson died April 18 at the Eagles Nest Motel
of undetermined causes. She was 44 and a member of the Tall Fin Killer Whale House in
Klukwan.
Mayor Jan Hill is the aunt of two of Johnsons four
children, but considers them all her family through ties several generations back. She
said the children were important to Johnson.
She spent time with them, especially when they were
younger, Hill said. In recent years she enjoyed local bazaars. I think Judy
went to every bazaar at the ANB Hall. Shell be missed at the next one.
Judy Johnson was born Nov. 30, 1965 in Juneau to Irene
and Raymer Johnson. She graduated from Haines High School in 1984 and also lived in
Whitehorse and Juneau.
Family members said she enjoyed watching movies, shopping and visiting family and friends. Sister
Lynne Johnson said Judy was affectionate and expressive. Her yearbook quote was, We
can do anything we want to do if we stick with it long enough.
Johnson is survived by children Darren Shorty, Kelly
Johnson, and Kevin and Nicole Clayton; brother James Donnelly Sr. of Sitka; sisters Lynne
Johnson of North Pole and Roberta Donnelly of Craig; nephews Aaron Wilson and Justin
Henricks and nieces Lindsey Hoffman, and Martha, LeeAnna and Cheyenne Morris.
Her parents, Raymer Gene Johnson and Irene (Hoolis)
Johnson, brother Lee Johnson, grandparents Johnnie and Martha Willard and Peter and Emma
Kasko, as well as Uncle William Chief Johnson precede her in death.
Mondays memorial will be followed by a light supper. A
graveside service is pending.
